School-wide Effective Behavior Support (SWEBS)This training focuses on designing school-wide behavior plans with the goal of preventing problem behavior, thereby increasing the time spent on instruction and increasing student achievement. This training series highlights research-based methods for managing student behavior from both behavioral and instructional points of view. SWEBS, at its core, is instructional in nature, with an emphasis on effective instruction for behavioral skills as well as general school curricula.
The concept personifies building local capacity. It brings school-wide teams and intermediate unit consultants together for multi-year, intensive in-service training, including on-site guided practice. The combination of centralized training days at PaTTAN and the on-sites that occur in your school building, results in measurable change for schools, classrooms, teachers, and students.Effective school-wide behavior support is based upon three components that must be well planned and support student learning. Instructional design and delivery Classroom management School-wide rules and procedures Behavior Assessment and Intervention Series Team Training This team training series guides an individual student's team through the process of behavior assessment, developing, implementing, and revising behavior intervention plans, and progress monitoring. Teams receive instruction in: Identifying environmental factors (antecedents and consequences) that affect behavior Data collection techniques designed to provide information useful to assessment and intervention Methods for using assessment information to logically determine functions of behavior Methods for developing and implementing effective behavioral interventions Efficient and effective progress monitoring used to guide decision-making Behavior Interventions for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing This training focuses on the essential link between instruction and classroom behavior as it relates to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
By combining research-based principles and strategies from the fields of behavior support and effective instruction, school personnel can prevent much of the disruptive behavior that occurs in classrooms. This training includes extensive effective instructional strategies and techniques.
