Assessing to Learn:  Pennsylvania Benchmark Initiative Basic Information

4Sight Benchmark Assessments
The Pennsylvania 4Sight Benchmark Assessments are valid, reliable and aligned to the PSSA and provide an estimate of student performance on the PSSA, as well as diagnostic sub-skill data to guide classroom instruction and professional development efforts.  Most recent editions of 4Sight Benchmark Assessments are updated to reflect the most recent changes in Assessment Anchors.

4Sight Reading Versions available for 2007-2008 SY:

Edition 4 Reading Grades 3-8 (complete test kits in paper and on-line version)
Edition 3 Reading Grades 3-8 (answer sheets only paper version)
Edition 1 Reading Grades 9-11 (complete test kits in paper and on-line version)

4Sight Mathematics Versions available for 2007-2008 SY:

Edition 3 Mathematics Grades 3-8 (complete test kits in paper and on-line version)
Edition 2 Mathematics Grades 3-8 (complete test kits in paper version)
Edition 1 Mathematics Grades 9-11 (complete test kits in paper and on-line version)


Costs for 4Sight Benchmark Assessments for 2007-2008 School Year
4Sight Reading & Math Benchmark Assessments Grades 3-11:

  • Paper version for Grades 3-11 is sixty dollars ($60.00) per classroom (set of 30) per subject (Reading and Math).

4Sight Reading & Mathematics Benchmark Assessments On-line version for Grades 3-11:

  • One-thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per building for the first 500 participating students (including Reading and Math for all 500), plus one dollar ($1.00) per additional participating student over 500.
  • This cost includes the option for buildings to have each participating student (user) take both the Reading and Math versions of 4Sight On-line.  
  • There is NOT a separate or additional cost per subject area (Reading and Math) for the on-line version of 4Sight.  
  • EAP and ABG funds may be used to purchase the 4Sight Benchmark Assessments for use in those initiatives.

Included in the Costs for 4Sight Benchmark Assessments 
The costs include 5 tests for Grades 3-8 and 4 tests for Grades 9-11 delivered throughout the school year.
The costs include the use of the 4Sight Member Center, an on-line tool used for management of 4Sight data, disaggregated reporting and data analysis.

The developers of 4Sight will not support 2005-2006 version of 4Sight for 2007-2008 School Year, due to the changes in Assessment Anchors.  School districts interested in using 4Sight in 2007-2008 SY may purchase at the costs identified above.
