Material Description:
This course is designed to provide introductory information for school leaders on Autism Spectrum Disorders and how to plan for successfully meeting student and staff needs. Participants will learn about the core deficits, defining features and prominent strengths and talents of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This information will be layered onto the specific challenges commonly encountered by the student and the staff working with the student in the school environment. Particular attention will be given to proactively addressing these challenges by organizing and planning for the school-wide supports necessary to maximize success of all. Leaders will learn about the essential partnerships required to accurately assess students' strengths and needs, provide appropriate programming, and precisely monitor student progress. Participants will have the unique opportunity to hear "lessons from the field" from a panel of experienced principals, parents, and special education directors as they openly discuss the hurdles and accomplishments they have encountered in their efforts to educate students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

This is the Post test and ASHA Bubble form for use by participants who have chosen to watch this teleconference via DVD or online because they were unable to attend the original teleconference due to inclement weather. Only individuals who were registered for the original event may earn Act 48 hours for viewing this teleconference.In order to receive both the Act 48 and the ASHA continuing education units, it is necessary to complete the post test and complete the ASHA bubble sheet and return the test and bubble to sheet to us by February 15, 2006.
