Come refresh your sense of balance and inspiration in your vital work as a K-12 Education interpreter. Dr. Bill of Lifeprint.com and the effervescent Bee Vicars (a moderator of the online "Diverse Deaf Perspectives on ASL Interpreting" online group and "Bee's Deaf Chat") will help you significantly expand your interpreting toolbox and your mental framework by reimaging bilingualism in the Deaf Community, and learning how to use intersplicing, resyntaxing, and translanguaging to become an agent of language enrichment in the lives of Deaf youth.

Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss flexibly, confidently, and with increased adaptability when interpreting a wide range of topics with greater success.
  • Explain and navigate the complex linguistic and communication needs of Deaf youth growing up in a diglossic environment.
  • Demonstrate revertability and retranslation consistency in interpretations.
