This day is designed to address programming needs for students with low incidence disabilities. Even though the number of students identified with autism has continued to grow, it still falls within this category. Special ed leaders will learn strategies to share with their staff who teach students who have autism, or are deaf, blind, or deaf and blind, and/or students who are unable to communicate in typical ways.

Participants will be able to:
  1. explain why collaboration is necessary and when to use effectively with stakeholders
  2. identify different options for successful communication
  3. describe typical areas of need for students with autism spectrum disorders
  4. share current information about educational, instructional, and assistive technologies with their staff
