This leadership meeting will focus on collaborative partnerships to assist leaders to increase inclusive practices and reduce expulsion in early childhood programs. Sessions will focus on federal regulations that have similar goals and requirements, positive behavior supports, itinerant teaching models, and on line course resources. Participants will have the opportunities to have guided practice with the content. Facilitated discussion sessions will provide an opportunity for leaders to provide input to OCDEL for developing policy, governance and professional development for high quality partnerships to increase outcomes for children and families.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify indicators of quality and effective partnerships that supports high quality early childhood programs.
  2. Learn strategies for maintaining and expanding successful collaborative partnerships focused on reducing suspension and expulsion.
  3. Identify resources/supports to help strengthen local partnerships in the implementation of OCDEL policies on inclusion and suspension and expulsion and to build sustaining partnerships
  4. Understand regulatory and policy foundations supporting inclusive opportunities for young children and their families, emphasizing the common goals and policies.

Target Audience

This training is for invited participants from the following: Early Intervention, Early Childhood, Behavioral Health, and Family Leaders; Early Learning Council Members (ELC); and State Interagency Coordinating Council Members (SICC), OCDEL Staff and TA partners.

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
