Assessment of student response to intervention is a key component of the individual problem-solving process inherent within a tiered system of support. Cross-disciplinary teams will review the tenets of highly customized problem-solving. Teams will assess response to intervention matched to need using evidence-based methodologies and a continuum of reliable and valid data sources. Teams will review RtI methodologies including ROI calculation using progress-monitoring data.


  • Explain the tenets of problem-solving within a tiered system
  • Describe how progress monitoring data informs instructional intensity and match within and across the tiers
  • Apply conceptual underpinnings of Rate of Improvement (ROI) within a Tiered System via calculation and interpretation

Target Audience

Building Principal, General Education Teacher(s), Special Education Teachers (s), School Psychologist, Mathematics Specialist, Parent (optional), IU TaC (required), MTSS Coordinator

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
