How SLP´s Can Best Serve Students with Specific Reading Disorders

Speech Language Pathologists are increasingly called upon to help students who struggle with reading. Since an important underlying cause of reading disorders is phonological awareness, the SLP has the background necessary to assist with these pre-reading skills. To be most effective in helping students with reading disorders, the SLP also needs training in Multisensory Structured Language approaches, to teach the full scope of written language skills.
