Using Text Analysis to Augment Classroom Interpretations

This session will focus on text analysis in order to improve interpretation accuracy. Participants will link effective interpreting preparation practices to the text analysis process to achieve conceptually accurate interpretations. Using text excerpts and instructional videos from the Pennsylvania Standards Aligned System, participants will have opportunities to practice analysis skills, including the identification of the appropriate use of classifiers and fingerspelling, and prosodic features. They will have the chance to render a signed interpretation of their text while listening and viewing an instructional video.
