Making AEC Meaningful for Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities: Understanding Intents and Using Essentialization Examples

This course is designed for participants who teach students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. This course will provide participants an opportunity to explore alternate eligible content and intents across subject areas and learn ways to make it meaningful for these students at the least complex content level. Essentialized examples, sample content targets, and instructional activities will be shared.

Complex Math Concepts: A Deeper Exploration of Content, Intents and Essentialization Examples

This course is designed for those participants who have a basic understanding of the essentialization process as provided in prior webinars. This course will provide participants with additional essentialization examples for a deeper understanding of what some consider more complex math content. This content can be different from what has traditionally been implemented as functional math for students eligible for an alternate assessment. In addition to essentialization examples, ideas for enhancing understanding of the content will be addressed. Examples of how to make complex content meaningful and accessible will be provided.

This content can be different from what has traditionally been implemented as functional ELA for students eligible for an alternate assessment. In addition to essentialization examples, ideas for enhancing understanding of the content through the lens of literature and informational text will be addressed. Examples of how to make complex content meaningful will be provided.

1. Go to PaTTAN’s Online registration system: CLICK HERE

2. Please enter your User ID and Password and click on the “Transcript/Status” button.
Note: (If you do not know your ID and Password, please click on the “Email My ID” button at the bottom and fill out your email address and click on “Email My ID.” Your ID and password will be sent to the email address listed in your account. If your email address has changed, please contact the CourseWhere Administrator at coursewhere@pattan.net

3. Click on the “View Transcript” button

4. A new page will open showing which events you have attended and which events you are currently registered for.

5. You can view or print:

• Transcript – Click on the “Printer Friendly Transcript”
• Certificate – Click on the icon to the right of the completed event listed under “Events Attended”
