An Update on Implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

On January 16, 2018, the United States Department of Education approved the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) ESSA Consolidated State Plan, the state’s most comprehensive federal education blueprint in recent history. The plan was shaped by the guiding principles of transparency, equity, and innovation, and underscores the commonwealth’s commitment to creating more balanced and comprehensive school progress measures, reducing testing time, and supporting educators and students. Hear an update on implementation of the state’s ESSA plan, including next steps in the transition to Pennsylvania’s new school accountability system.
