Deaf - Hard of Hearing

Sonic Alert Home Safety Kit

by Jane Freeman

The Short Term Loan now has a kit for trial which supports the independent living skills of our students who are deaf or hard of hearing or deaf-blind. The kit is called the “Sonic Alert HomeAware Fire Safety Value Package”. It includes a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, a doorbell signaler, a bed vibrator and an alarm clock. Each time a transmitter sends a signal, the alert message will scroll across the display, such as DOOR, PHONE, etc. and will alert the individual through the 110 dB extra-loud alarm, powerful bed shaker and the large 2 inch notification alert scrolling on the display, or a flashing ultra-bright strobe light. Additionally, it has a Housemate unit for connecting with an IOS device.
