Restorative Justice Conferencing covers the fundamentals of facilitating a formal conference in response to an incident of wrongdoing or harm. It will bring together those impacted to resolve conflict. Incidents of conflict, wrongdoing, and harm occur everywhere, every day in schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and families. The restorative justice conference provides a way to engage with those who cause and experience harm, along with the related community.

Objectives

At the end of the session participants will:

  • Identify the purpose of a restorative conference.
  • Identify and learn the necessary skills to prepare and conduct a restorative conference.
  • Recognize and list the criteria for appropriate use of a restorative conference.
  • Generate a plan to include, and develop a plan to integrate, restorative practices in their own pedagogy and practice.
