CDDRE (Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education)

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is in partnership with the Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education (CDDRE) to support local schools in assessment and instruction.  The Johns Hopkins University and the Council for Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) have received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education focused on helping schools meet state academic performance standards.  From January 2005 to present, more than thirty districts in PA have been partnering with PDE and CDDRE.  By participating in this partnership, PA schools will receive on-site support and resources at no cost from national experts on school reform.

The services provided by CDDRE to districts that elect to participate are:

  1. In-depth data analysis to identify root causes of areas identified as in need of improvement for AYP.
  2. Assistance with implementation and effective use of a formative, quarterly benchmark system that closely matches PSSA to guide instructional and professional development decision making. (Districts that do not have a benchmark in place can receive assistance with obtaining such an assessment.)
  3. Development of district/school plans for increasing student achievement and reaching AYP.
  4. Identification of a list of effective research-based interventions matched to the identified needs of the district/schools.
  5. Leadership support for on-going data monitoring during the first year of implementation of the selected intervention to ensure success.
